Review Of the Nikon D90
Nikon has done it again, lately this camera munufacturer can do no wrong in the world of DSLRs. This gem, which replaces the D80, is the only camera you will require to shoot extraordinary pictures. This camera has many of the same features as the D300 (and even some improvements), but is lighter.
The D3 and the D300 get a run for their money with the smartest Nikons DSLR and at a lower price. Of course there is always a lot of fluff added to a new prosumer camera in order to catch the eye of those who are not in the know, but there is also a lot of very useful groundbreaking improvements in the Nikon D90 that just are not offered in the D80, or D300 for that matter.
If you have $1,000 to spend on a camera this is going to be your best option. With it you will get much of what establishes the $5,000 D3 as extraordinary, and at a portion of the cost. The first thing you will notice is the scaldingly bright and stunning 3-inch LCD. The colors are vibrant and correct.
Another excellent benefit is that it does not drain the EN-EL3e battery rapidly. With a rating of 850 shots and a mix of flash, it’s time for the D3 to move over and make room for this new leader in cameras. For photo quality, the DX image sensor rivals the D3, D300, and D700. In a normal shooting environment with acceptable light, you will see the difference. It will be preasantly surprised even for all the people who like to blow up a photo to 300% and scour for imperfections. In low light higher ISO the D300 will improve slightly, and the D3 will improve quite a bit more. $4000 more? I don’t think so.
The Nikon D90 also includes a live view feature. A photo enthusiast probably will not have much use for this. So you can appear in some of the stunning photos it would be helpful to pass the camera to friends and family occassionally. Thanks to the point and shoot cameras it would seem that we are now dependent on LCD’s to take out pictures. Those who own a DSLR have probably noticed that most people are intimidated by just holding it, let along shooting with it. Live view makes it much easier to use the camera when a person is used to holding out their camera in front of them. Additionally, the lighter weight and plastic body make the D90 a more accessible product.
Thank you, this is really interesting. Can’t wait to try it!
