Is the Sony Bravia a Good Choice for HDTVs?

with one comment

Once exclusive to the wealthy, flat-screen HDTVs are now a household item for families with all levels of income. Economies of scale and many other innovations in the production of HDTVs has made it a wide-spread phenomenon that everyone has access to. Programming providers such as cable and satellite companies broadcast many programs in HD, allowing the viewer with a crisp and clear viewing experience of their favorite shows. You really can’t go wrong with Sony KDL-37XBR6 HDTV.

The Bravia Sony Kdl-37xbr6 HDTV features a resolution of 1080p for full high definition. It features the proprietary Bravia Engine, a totally digital video processor and Motionflow 60Hz technology too. These reduce the noise and provide a clearer picture, while also enhancing image detail, color reproduction, and contrast.

A media bar interface with menus, controls and settings is used in the Sony Kdl-35xbr6. An integrated programming guide is also included in the media bar. The sync features of the Bravia allow CEC equiped components, such as DVD players, to be connected via HDMI cables and controlled by the Bravia remote control by using link modules. A nice large option is the Sony KDL-52XBR7 HDTV.

The audio is enhanced as well using S-Force Front Surround to generate realistic three dimensional surround sound out of only two speakers. Another audio feature is Voice Zoom, which analyses the audio to distinguish and extract the human voice portion of the audio. This enables the listener to enhance voice from commentators during sport events, for example.

The Sony Kdl-37xbr6 HDTV has adequate connections for all your media center needs. There are four HDMI ports. There are also two other high definition component inputs. There is also a PC computer port so it can be used for an extreme computer monitor. If you’re looking to save money, you might want to go with the Sony KDL-32XBR6 HDTV.

This model has an elegant designer cabinet with a piano black finish in high gloss. The speakers have complimentary onyx speaker grills, and mounting holes can be found on the back that are made for standard VESA wall mounts.

This SONY line has plenty of options to choose from. The kdl-32xbr6 HDTV and its larger brother the kdl-52xbr7 HDTV are both fantastic televisions for the home. The larger of the two, the 52xbr7 features Sony patented Motionflow technology which refreshes the frame rate at 4 times the average. It also has a larger spectrum of viewable colors at 10 bits, making a great TV to purchase for your home theater.

LCD and Plasma TVs – What’s The Difference

without comments

Pioneer KURO PDP-5020FD

Technology can be a bit confusing when you are dealing with terminology. Take for example LCD and plasma TVs and how most people do not realize that there is a distinct difference. Sure both are flat screen televisions, but the technology behind that glorious clear picture is vastly different. To further complicate matters, you have to also realize that not every flat screen television or flat screen monitor is actually a plasma or LCD.

LCD and plasma TVs vary in how their projection of an image is made. A LCD television is two pieces of a material, transparent of course, that have liquid crystal pumped between. The crystal cells filter the colors. A plasma TV has two pieces of glass and gas is pumped in between. The gas is charged and the particles, once struck by the gas, give off red, green and blue phosphors. This process produces pixels and makes up the picture.

So, which of the two are better? That is a matter of opinion but plasma flat screen televisions do suffer from excessive heat if left on too long and can have what is called a “screen burn.” A screen burn occurs when a static image is left on the screen for a long time and remains even when you change the channel. This can also easily happen with computer monitors.

If the confusing information did not daunt you and you kept reading, then you should know that LCD and plasma TVs are much better than the previous models of television sets. The slim design and space they utilize often make them worth the purchase. When you factor in the clear pictures and better quality, you quickly become sold on the idea of owning one. Whatever type you choose, compare the pictures and the costs before you make the purchase. If you check around the different retail stores, then you may be able to find a great deal.

Plasma TV – A Quick History Lesson

without comments

When considering the history of plasma television screens, you have to understand the history that is behind this remarkable invention. The first plasma screen television has come quite a long way. However, the reason for the invention was not simply to provide men with amazing sports viewing. The plasma TV developed as a result of the computer generation. It is incredible that the plasma based viewing device is not a new idea. It has been around for quite some time. Perhaps a bit of a history lesson is in order for you to understand how this application came to be available for the masses.

It all began in 1964 at the University of Illinois. At this time, computer monitors were simple televisions. You have to realize that the televisions at this time were cathode ray tubes. They had to continuously refresh themselves in order to display correctly. That was a big problem when using a television as a computer monitor. Sure it was okay for watching tv shows, but the resolution for computers was terrible. By the end of the year the first plasma monitor was in operation.

Today’s plasma TVs have millions of cells that comprise the color and resolution of the screen. That initial plasma monitor was only one cell. However, it was still a step in the right direction. There was a set back, though. Liquid crystal displays became the more acceptable method and plasma technology was put on hold. Fast forward a few years and flat screen television sets became widely popular.

Plasma TV has made a huge impact on how people watch television and use their computers. HDTV has become a very popular item, as evident by the sheer number of plasma television screens in retail stores. The price, once a huge problem due to how expensive they were, is now becoming much more affordable. There are a large number of people who now own these remarkable flat screen televisions.

Thank you scientists at the University of Illinois for bringing men and women everywhere the ability to watch games on a plasma TV. Where would technology be if necessity had not demanded you devise a new computer monitor? We would probably still be watching our big screen television sets and never knowing that a clearer picture was possible at a decent price.
