What Is The Best Way To Send Someone A Large File

without comments

I guess we have all been there at some point, you type up a nice e-mail and attach a few (what you thought were) photos taken on you latest 10 or 20 megapixel camera and then press the send button. After you wait what seems like an age you then get a message telling you that the file is to large, how annoying is that?. The problem is though that large file transfer is an issue.

For business travellers this is a much greater problem as they often have to send large documents, sales proposals or complicated spreadsheets with macros.

As a local business sending large files and photos can be a problem so I spoke to my local Dorchester computer repair company who were very helpful and gave me some very sound advice.

Videos are becoming increasingly common way of distributing data as well but even though compression technology has come a long way enabling files to be smaller, a video will often exceed the ISP (internet service providers) e-mail file size limit, so often files can be lost.

When you are sending large files, you have to find a source other than your email to do so. There are many sites that will help you with this, and some are geared towards business use.

Large files aren’t necessarily restricted to e-mails though as business often need to share other types of data, for example geographic maps or computer aided design files which even in lightweight form can be very large. The methods of file transfer will of course vary from FTP type sites to sites that send a link to the recipient and make the file available for download for a set period of time.

In reality there are a wide range of providers offering these services which at one time was simply unheard of, but in true business fashion where there is a demand then you can be sure someone will come up with a solution.

There will of course be a number of considerations you will need to take into account when using these types of service. Cost is one factor but equally important is the security of the data you are sending. Is the service you choose to use an established provider with defined data protection protocols in place for example.

If sending large files for business is an ongoing and increasing problem then it may be more cost effective to try and find an alternate in house solution. The advantage of course is that on the one hand the ongoing cost could be less, but more importantly you will be sure that your data will be as secure as it can be in your own hands.

For the time being, know there are ways of sending large files that are relatively painless, and these sites are available for business or personal reasons if you find yourself in a pinch.

4 Vital Reasons To Place Spyware Killers Onto Your Home PC

without comments

Spyware, by definition, is computer software installed in a computer without the user’s awareness and approval. Although it is a common notion that spyware inconspicuously monitors user activity, spyware reaches past simple observing of actions. Besides monitoring an individual’s actions on their computers, spyware has the capability to capture particular data about the person’s, browsing history, and can even manage and control the computer system in several ways.

Spyware can install additional programs that the user would not normally use, authorize access to potentially hazardous websites, or divert promotional revenue. Most spyware applications trick users into installing them, by imitating valid software. Usually it requires intelligent anti-spyware programs to detect and remove them.

Aside from these, computer system settings can be altered that have an effect on things like connection speed, homepage settings, and total loss of vital software. Spyware brings about lots of other damaging effects, and below some are explained in greater detail.

Ads

The great majority of spyware software cause pop-up advertisements to {appear}. These pop up at specific time periods and situations, perhaps each time a user goes to a certain site, or when they open a separate browser window. Spyware offers this as an attractive utility for third-party advertisers. Promotional placement is given to them, and earning from advertisers is one of the objectives behind spyware applications’ records collecting activities.

Users make objections and grumble about pop-up advertisements as they perceive them to be invasive and irritating. Nearly all pop-ups use animation or flickering banners that users also find {distracting}. There may also be advertisements for pornographic sites that display indiscriminately. These ads are not only distracting; they may defy anti-pornography acts in various countries or states.

Identity Theft and Fraud

One of the most dangerous effects of spyware is identity theft. Some spyware software broadcast data such as usernames, passwords, and even bank or investment account information from your computer, to another person.  In recent years, countless numbers of individuals have become victims of identity theft, {resulting in} billions of dollars of losses for individuals and companies alike.

Private Relationships

As far-fetched as it sounds, spyware has also been found to interfere with private relationships as well. One application, at least, has been specially advertised for this reason alone. Loverspy was created to observe partner behavior and reveal disloyalty, if any. Observing an individual’s activity without their knowledge and observing information even on shared or conjugal property, is illegal in certain areas. Designers and users of the application were accused on charges of wiretapping and related computer crimes.

A Future Generation Washing Machine

with one comment

We have washed our clothes, whether it at a launderette using a commercial washing machines or at home. The traditional washing machine is somewhat of a antique these days. They have been around for so long with hardly a glimpse of any innovations.

Well that looks like it is set to change now with the new iBasket. Yes you heard that write the ibasket is a digitally controlled wash basket which is connected with basic wi fi access.

The way in which the iBasket actually work is a very innovative idea. Basically you throw your clothes into this hamper and then when it reaches the max load it starts its washing cycle. This will save you the hassle of unloading all the washing from the hamper and placing it into a separate machine. Whats even better is that the machine notifies you via wi fi when it is complete.
