Unprecedented Number of New Cars Introduced so far in 2009
This year (2009) looks set to break all records when it comes to the introduction of new car variants. CAP, the independent provider of new vehicle information, has reported that no less than 653 new car variants were added to their database during April.
This is reported to be the highest number of new car variants ever added in a single month. The underpinning reason for these introductions is the race to meet demand for lower CO2 emitting vehicles.
CAP have reported that a total of 5,482 new variants were added to their database during the first four months of 2009 (up until the end of April). In 2003 a total of 5,092 new variants were added over the entire year. This means that if the current rate of introduction continues then there will have been 16,446 new entries by the end of 2009.
During April Volvo lead the field with 191 new variants introduced with Audi in close second place with 116 new variants. They were followed by BMW and Mercedes with 61 and 60 new variants respectively.
If you are hoping to upgrade to one of these new, low CO2 variants you would do well to consider car leasing as your primary finance option. With a minimal down payment and regular, fixed monthly repayments you could be driving a brand new car tomorrow.
