From the 21st to the 30Th of June 2008, the Round Britain Boat Race will begin. A selection of 49 RIBs and power boats are taking part this year and some are driven by some odd drivers, Top Gear cameraman Iain May, presenter James May and DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles are part of the crew of the Garmin Racing, designed and built by Geoff Hunton at Hunton Powerboats.

Although this boat has a great advantage with its 900 horsepower, the crew has almost no experience on the water so the boat doesn’t have great odds of winning, especially with the famous Captain Slow as part of the crew.

Flying RIB

Anyone that has ever driven or been on a RIB will know that it is a fantastic experience, however, can this experience be improved by taking the RIB out of the water and into the air?

With its specially selected RIB and the ultralight glider on top, you can fly through the sky in a flying rigid inflatable boat, although its wise to have driven a RIB before trying this new concept, information on RIBs can be accessed from the experts at JBT Marine, this new type of driving can be picked up within a few hours of trying.
